In 1998, in conjunction with his decision to ask Libby Clark and Kathleen Sadler to
invigorate the Watch, Chuck Epes appointed a Safety Committee that
includes Chuck himself, John Butcher, Libby Clarke, George Hubbs, Kathleen Sadler, and
Mauri Shaw. Winnie Cobb and Holly Anna Jones have been working with the Committee.
The Committee met on June 29, 1998 and identified the 4000 Block of
MacArthur as its first priority. The 4000 Block is home to more reported crime than
any other block in Bellevue. In particular, the block leads the neighborhood in reports of
aggravated assaults, burglaries, robberies, and simple assaults. See the index of
Bellevue crime by block for some of the details.
