During the week of May 10-16, 1998 Team A reported the following
problems:
- The open air drug salesman still is at work on MacArthur Avenue (mostly
in the alley). The Commonwealth's Attorney's
office and the new Captain in the Third Precinct
are at work on the problem.
- The empty house at 1410 Avondale
looks a bit better with the lawn mowed and the bushes trimmed. The City codes people sent the owner a Notice of Violation on May 21. On the morning of June 6 there was a FOR SALE sign out front; by noon that day
the agent hung a SOLD sign on
it. He said the buyer owns the duplex next door, and paid $49,500, cash(!). See the 1410 Chronology page for the interesting story from the Codes
Enforcement office.
- The trash in front of the garage doors of the house at 1424 Avondale has
been there several weeks. Removed during
the week of May 24, before we called
about it.
- The blue van on MacArthur drew two reports: On 5/10, expired
tags and inspection. Four days later, no tags at all. By the 15th, the van had
new tags and a new inspection sticker.
- The ratty lawn at the empty house for sale at 4000 Brook Rd. produced two reports.
When Winnie called the City, they said they already had three complaints. Lawn mowed on 4/18. Looks a LOT better.
- Mitsubishi minivan behind CVS. Alabama tags 47 LL 005; a "Navy" decal;
full of stuff. As of 6/9, it still is
there and still, mirabile dictu, not looted.
- The late team on the 15th saw an unlocked automobile on Princeton with the dome light
on. They notified the owner, who turned off his
light.
