The week of April 18, 1999 was quiet again. That's the way we like to see it.
John Barrett, a new member of Team A, took one look at the water-filled
pothole behind Lauterbach Electric (as you know, it's been there forever) and said
"That's not acceptable." Actually, Winnie reports he used stronger words than
that. John called Streets himself. As of Monday the 19th, the hole was filled
with asphalt.
The Sunday evening crew found a tree down on Pope. No record whether they called it in.
A Tuesday crew reported a downed street sign at Brook and Greycourt. Thursday reported
a pothole on Windsor near Brook. Capt. Winnie called in both of these.
If you want to write a card to the Postmaster to compliment the fine work Kenny Murray
(that very helpful, thin, young black mail carrier) does in Bellevue, Capt. Winnie has a
free postcard that will do the job.
Welcome to our new members: John Barrett, Bob Clark, Hanna and Steve Cook, Bill &
June Dennis, and Gabe Knott.
Thanks also to Chris Sterling for taking on an extra patrol with new member Bob Clark.
Our senior member, Sarah Mays, 77, will have surgery on April 27. Please send her a
card at 4022 MacArthur.
Winnie and Diana send this note to each member of Team A: It is your hard work
and dedication that makes Team A the standard for the other teams to work toward. Thank
you for your good and productive work to help make Bellevue a better place.
