We had some activity at 1603 Claremont during the week of march 14,
1999.
- On Monday night, Team A noticed lights on in the house. They called Capts. Winnie
and Diana, who called the police, who showed up promptly and went looking. We
learned from the scanner there is a felony warrant out for the owner, in addition to the
capias we knew about. In either event, Mr. Gomes was not home.
When the yellow light first showed up on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, the lights in
the house went off. The police responded each time, and each time they searched the
whole house and again found nobody there.
Something is going on. We are seeing an old, gray car out front, Va. license
YZK-???? (we remember it by "Y2K").
Follow the link to see the earlier progress (or lack of it) at 1603 Claremont. We also have seen a copy of the capias
(arrest order) for the co-owner: Hugh Anthony Gomes. Please keep an eye on
the place, and call in anything that looks like the owner.
- One Team A member took action against the three shopping carts behind the MacArthur
Apartments: he returned two to Walgreen's and one to Farmer Jack's.
On Monday night, a male person broke out of the apartment through
a screen downstairs at 4022 MacArthur Ave (one of the downstairs apartments). Capt.
Presson was at home when she saw this; she called the police. On Friday night the
regular patrol saw someone from the same apartment jumping the Anchor fence and running
down the alley. They called the police but lost the runner. Terry Henley, the
landlord, tells Diana that he is evicting the (female) tenant whose apartment has been
drawing these visits.
We hope all this activity is not a harbinger of renewed problems in the MacArthur
Apartments.
Please devote some extra attention to the 1600 block of Claremont and to the alley
behind the MacArthur Apartments. If you would like to drive an extra patrol at any
time, you know whom to call.
