Princeton Creek is running sewage into Bryan Park:
Princeton Creek rises in the City right of way between Fauquier and Newport. You
can enter the upstream end at the guard rail on Stanhope. You can enter the
downstream end on Crestwood, just across from the intersection with Pope.
Indeed, it looks like the actual headwaters are near Fauquier and Brook, but the water
now goes through the storm sewers.
We hear that the locals called this "Willow Creek" but that it got renamed
because of the nearby Princeton Road. Then again, perhaps Princeton Road was named
for the creek. This looks like a chicken-and-egg situation.
We also hear that Sen. Willey got the creek from Stanhope to Crestwood put underground.
In any event, the lowlands along the Creek north of Bellevue must not have been
suitable for houses, and they put Fauquier and Newport parallel to the low area, and then
put Princeton parallel to the creek downstream of Crestwood.
About 100 yards up from Crestwood, you reach the low point of the area and the storm
drain that is visible here just below Alex's feet:
Elsewhere in this stretch there are another half dozen drains, some of them quite large
All these flow together with other storm sewers from Bellevue to the storm drain that
runs Under Crestwood Road.
