Bellevue Security Patrol Neighborhood Crime and Suspicious Activity Update

(A compendium of activity relayed through the Community voice mailbox, security patrol members and Neighborhood Watch)

2002

March 27: Young, black male, aged 15-17 attempted armed robbery of neighbor at 1206 Westminster Ave. A passing car scared robber away. However, there were shots fired; one stray bullet lodged in the porch of 1209 Westminster Ave. (home to Team A patrol member). Police reports made.

4400 block of Newport Ave.: Car window broken and perpetrator stole loose change in car.

March 28/29: Attempted shed break-in 1500 block of Avondale Ave.

April 3: 1:30 a.m. drive-by shooting at 3865 Fauquier Ave.; 5 shots fired with at least 2 going through homeowner’s bedroom window. No one injured. Police responded.

Later that week, neighbor on Fauquier called to report hearing shots and seeing a small, red sedan, possibly a Nissan Sentra racing down avenue. Appeared to be 3 or 4 people in car; her impression was that they were teen-age white males.

April 4: Attempted home break-in at 1400 Bellevue Ave. Entry was attempted through rear screen door. Police were called.

April 12: 3400 Fauquier Ave: While neighbor gardening in backyard; home was broken into via front door that was unlocked. Jewelry stolen.

April 28: Mountain bike stolen from open garage at 1218 Amherst Ave. Opportunity for theft occurred while garage was open and being painted. Police report filed.

April 28/29: Car theft at 4201 Fauquier Ave. sometime during night. Homeowners heard nothing. 1986 light gray Fleetwood Cadillac with white top. Police report filed.
