In January, 2000 we learned that Jill and Terry Henley had sold the MacArthur apartments to Mr. Donald Seelmann.
The new owner on Feb. 1, 2000 sent a notice to his tenants. It looks like Mr. Seelmann followed up on the notice. In May he evicted a major troublemaker at 4022.
You've no doubt seen how much cleaner the parking lot is since Mr. Seelmann got rid of the junkers there. Perhaps you've noticed the new plantings. The calls for service data quantify the reduction in disorder. Here are the total calls for service at the MacArthur Apts, by quarter:
Note the dramatic improvement since Mr. Seelmann took over.
We don't know what caused the bump in the first quarter of 2000. We heard some reports of a couple of young tenants at the Shirley Manor with a streetside pharmaceutical sales operation. Likewise, we don't know whether the rise at the end of 2001 is part of a trend. The first quarter '02 data imply that it's not..

We're starting to get crime data under the new system. The offenses reported at the MacArthur Apts also showed a nice decrease from 2000 to 2001 except at 4016.

5 6 Four of the five offenses reported in 2001 at 4016 were, in fact, a pair of domestic assaults (apparently they whacked each other). Mr. Seelman now has severed his relationship with the couple involved.
This is excellent news! Mr. Seelmann is turning the MacArthur Apts. into a good neighbor. Please be sure to thank Mr. Seelmann when you see him.
